A peaceful haven 🌴 The Elephant Island is the best choice for lodging in Aswan if you want calm (a car‑free pedestrian island) and serenity. The guesthouse is even more relaxing because it’s surrounded by a garden. Owner Islam is very kind; he picked us up at the dock to guide us to the accommodation the first time. He shares interesting facts about the island and its residents and offers arrangements for boat tours (motorboat for sights in Aswan, 10€/hour) or a 1‑hour sunset feluke. Responsive via message. The air‑conditioning is silent. To spot the lodging, it’s right next to the mosque. To reach the island, take the public ferry (less than 1€ per person for the crossing!!) “Koti Side”, the southernmost spot next to the Makani restaurant.
