“Expérience magnifique chez une famille japonaise”
We had a wonderful stay with hosts who welcomed us with incredible kindness. Our room was spacious, featuring a living area, lounge, and kitchenette. The wood stove’s warmth was very pleasant for the season, and the bedding was ultra‑comfortable. It was the best place in Japan where we ate the best meals, and menus were even translated into French. We could wash our clothes, and the shared toilet and bathroom were very clean, modern, and functional. The house, an old samurai home, was tastefully renovated. Floor‑to‑ceiling windows opened onto a beautiful garden. It was the best part of our trip. The house is ideally located near Kirishima National Park, 12 minutes by car from the Sogi Falls—220‑meter‑wide, 12‑meter‑high waterfalls—and 40 minutes by car from the Ebino Plateau and Lake Onami, where a lovely crater hike surrounds the lake. We booked activities offered by the hosts: a bamboo craft session and making soba noodles. Those were great shared moments. We were so well received that we would have liked to stay several more days, and we’re sad to leave. We hope to return to Japan and share more wonderful moments with this family who welcomed us wonderfully.
