The place is in a nice spot, but it wasn’t all that great. The room was tiny, the photos were misleading, and the bar was pricey.
“Beautiful Tudor building in beautiful landscape”
A beautiful old Tudor building, very friendly staff, and a lovely location.
“Lovely location but that’s about it, overpriced and in dire need of an overhaul.”
The property has a lot of character and looks very appealing from the outside. Inside, it was very rundown and clearly needed investment, especially the spa – none of the lockers in the women’s changing room worked and the door was on the verge of falling off its hinges. The food and drinks were disappointing; we only had breakfast, and it was of poor quality, so we didn’t stay for dinner. The cocktails were awful, made with cheap spirits even though the menu said otherwise (the old fashioned was supposed to be made with Woodford Reserve but was actually made with Jim Beam, yet the price stayed the same). The staff were generally unprofessional, not rude but not competent either.
