“Was a good day overall”
The location offers a stunning view. Parking was fine, but the checkout time felt a little too early.

The place was close to town and easy to locate. However, the room was dirty and hot, lacked air conditioning, and the floor fan helped little. We had to tape holes in the screen to keep bugs out. The ice machine was broken, and the property didn’t match the pictures at all.

The front desk gave us a warm welcome and great service. It’s right outside Chama, and we knew Elkhorn was an older building. The bed was comfortable. There was no air conditioner—just a fan that worked well. Coffee was available, but there was no coffee maker. The ice machine was broken, and you could buy ice for $4 per bag at the office.

The location is the only redeeming factor here. The property has deteriorated over time. I used to stay here as a young woman, bringing my children and grandchildren to ride the train and share memories. One cabin’s bathroom door was hanging off its hinges! Light bulbs were missing, there was no toilet paper, and the kitchen had no utensils.

What breakfast are you talking about? We bought burritos in town and they were not very good. The bathroom shower was dripping, making it hard to sleep in that room, and the floor stayed wet.
