The lodge is very comfortable and well‑located for bird watching. Every morning there were fruits at the feeders to attract birds. The team is welcoming and available at all times. The information we needed was relevant and precise. The food was good and varied.

The spot is nicely tucked in nature and the meals were tasty, but the kitchen messed up the orders, serving main dishes before starters and generally needing more focus; the beds felt uncomfortable.

Le Toucan offered a morning breakfast that felt a bit French, but the overall French Touch—meals, breakfast, décor, French garden—was so generic that if I wanted genuine French culture I’d have gone to Paris; the manager was annoying, never hiding his drinking and inserting himself at the table with irrelevant personal anecdotes and somewhat sexist remarks; the dining room opens onto the outdoors, making dinner uncomfortable when it rains or is windy; the food itself was mediocre, and because the place is so isolated, there isn’t really a choice but to dine on site.
