The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and the food was good, but the room itself was disappointing—down in a cellar, with a window only about 6 feet from the floor, measuring 2ft x 2ft and covered with opaque glass. The TV only offered BBC 1 because there was no Wi‑Fi signal, and none of the staff knew how to fix that.

The location was lovely, with great views and a very peaceful atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, and the food was lovely with a good selection. Nothing else to note.

I’ve stayed here many times before and it’s always a top‑class place to stay—friendly atmosphere, good service, good food, quiet, relaxing, and ideal whether for one night or many. There’s loads of parking. Great place.

The Rest is spacious and friendly, offering a good selection of food and drink at reasonable prices. It has ample parking and is well placed to explore the surrounding area. The rooms are fairly basic and clean with all the facilities you would expect, but they are due for a redecoration sometime soon; this does not affect the comfort or the peaceful atmosphere. The Rest has some quirks that people have questioned, but I think that adds to its overall character.
