“Average as the issues overshaddowed my enjoyment of a nice room.”
The place was easy enough to locate, and the room was pretty, though I’ve never stayed in a room that dark. The decor was clean and felt like a 4‑star hotel, with both the bedroom and bathroom clean, spacious, and generous. I’ve never paid so much for a single night without breakfast, yet the accommodation was recommended and many spots were booked. I could have gone a bit further from the town centre to find a good room with breakfast at a cheaper price, so the value for money was lacking. The TV was faulty; I called the number in the booklet, emailed, and finally reached the owner’s number. He spent 15 minutes telling me the TV worked in the morning but that I should press all the buttons; he explained I could get YouTube and sign into Amazon or Netflix. I told him I was old and just wanted basic BBC news, but after 10‑15 minutes I only got YouTube. Before calling, I knocked on a neighbour’s room to see if their TV worked, and they tried it once and it worked. The man, I think named Kevin, mentioned that sometimes the weather affects the aerial outside. It was around 8 pm when I reached my room. The towels were appalling, not reasonable quality, very disappointing. I’ve stayed in 3‑star hotels without any of these issues, so paying £229 for one night felt excessive given the time I spent fixing the TV.
