“A beautiful place ruined by the careless, selfish, and inconsiderate hotel keepers.”
I appreciated the historic building and the bell‑tower view from my room, but the one night I had booked turned into a DJ‑filled rave with the loudest music I’ve ever heard, which was an actual hate crime. The music shook my room and was nonstop; when I went downstairs there were only two people on the dance floor, making it an embarrassing failure of a night. The event was scheduled on the night of the Robbie Burns festival, a time when many older guests were in town, which felt disrespectful and tasteless. I’m 19, enjoy raves, but this was shocking. I managed to stay until 12 am when the music stopped and I could finally sleep, but the situation was insane. I even asked to change rooms, which is unusual for me because I dislike inconveniencing others. The staff told me that rooms away from the music were family rooms, so I would have to pay extra to escape the ear‑shattering noise (I could barely hear him because it was so loud). The establishment is insane, especially for a small town that should be a quiet getaway. On my last morning, the shower was almost entirely cold; it took about 5 minutes to warm up, which wasted water, and once it was warm it stayed hot for only about a minute before turning freezing again. I barely washed my hair because it was so cold. I refused to spend another cent at the bar, instead eating at a nearby pub where the meals were great. I don’t even want to know how the food at this place was; it was extremely overpriced.
