The owner and operator is a friendly, helpful French woman who’s lived in Luxor for many years. She and her staff gave us solid tips on what to do in Luxor and how to get around. The hotel itself is a stunning former Egyptian house. Every morning we ate breakfast in the ground‑floor courtyard. Because the building was originally a house, there’s no elevator and our room sat on the top floor (the fourth floor in British style, if I remember correctly), but we were warned about that beforehand and it didn’t really matter. I brought my day bag down to breakfast so I didn’t have to go back to my room, which was handy since there’s a guest bathroom on the ground floor.
