Rooms include TVs, fridges, and safety deposit boxes, with some offering tatami flooring and Japanese futon bedding. The hotel is close to Terukuni Shrine and offers on-site Japanese and local Satsuma cuisine at Restaurant Kanon, with pet-friendly options and private baths available.

The parking lot is too small.

The hot spring was amazing, the water was plentiful, and the staff were friendly and courteous.

The place is in a great spot and offers a unique traditional Japanese hotel vibe. However, it’s in disrepair and desperately needs a makeover. The onsen was mediocre, the cold plunge was empty, and the sauna didn’t work. The hotel charged 1560 JPY for one hour of luggage storage after checkout—a first for me in 35 years of traveling worldwide—and that left a bad impression. The Japanese breakfast came as a set with no choice over the contents, which wasn’t ideal.

During my four‑day stay the breakfast changed daily, featuring plenty of root vegetables that were both healthy and delicious. The baths rotate between the 8th and 2nd floors, and when they’re on the 2nd floor the space feels cramped and off‑putting; a sauna would have made things better.
