We booked this place because of its many positive reviews, but those seem to belong to the past. Other guests told us that this year the owners run the property themselves; the previous operators (e.g., Isabella) are no longer on site and were responsible for the high ratings of earlier years, which explains why it no longer meets those past standards. We were traveling with two small children, which we had confirmed in writing with the accommodation. The exact wording was: “That is absolutely fine. Children are very welcome and we are happy to host families. Since you are bringing your own beds for them, everything is perfectly fine and there is no problem at all.” When we arrived, a heavy storm with strong rain was in progress. There was no sign indicating where the reception was located on the building, so we had to walk around the house in the downpour with our two small children just to find everything locked. After calling the host, we had to walk half the house again because she wouldn’t open the door from the inside. Damp with two crying children in our arms, the “friendly” welcome was: “That’s not ok.” No smile, no warm welcome, just an immediate question about why we had two children, which was supposedly not allowed. We showed her the email from YOUR accommodation, to which she only replied that she hadn’t written it. Incredible. After some discussion we finally got into the room. There was no explanation about towel changes, how to lock the room (a special technique), or any information about the hotel. We were very frustrated with such a start to our holiday. The apartment we booked was large enough for our space needs.
