“From the room we had a beautiful view of the beach. It was magical to wake up to the sounds of ocean”

The staff were friendly and welcoming, making it feel like a home away from home. If you want a quiet, calm spot away from the tourist crowds, Isana is ideal. From the room we could see the beach and it was magical to wake up to ocean waves. A sunset walk along Mawella beach leads to other restaurants. Everyone is friendly and feels like part of a small community. Highly recommend fresh coconuts at the beachfront Gamanydjani. It’s a quiet sanctuary yet central to other towns if you want a day trip. The hotel can easily arrange a tuk‑tuk or car to Matara, Yala, Singharsha, Mirissa or Galle, all pretty close. Everything was perfect.

“I would definitely stay again . Highly recommended.”

Breakfast was very good, served on the veranda overlooking the beach. The staff were very friendly and relaxed, and the location was ideal with direct access to a beautiful quiet beach through a gate at the end of the garden. The room I stayed in could have used a curtain over the window of the glass door onto the corridor and curtains instead of wicker blinds. It wasn’t a big problem if I went to bed later as all lights were out, but it was a bit bright if I wanted an early night. Just a suggestion. Overall, a fantastic place.

“Schöner und entspannter Aufenthalt an Mawella Beach.”

The beach was beautiful, clean, long and quiet, perfect for swimming and walking. The food at the hotel was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The staff were very friendly. The food was good, especially the fish that was freshly sourced on order and then excellently prepared. The breakfast was also superb, both Western and Sri Lankan style. A manicured lawn in front of the hotel leads straight to the dreamlike beach. The rooms were clean with good beds, some with a veranda or small terrace. We would gladly go back.
