“Good location but ••••••”

The hostel sits right in the city center and both bus terminals are within walking distance, but I had some unpleasant experiences that I’m not detailing here because I’m seeking compensation through customer support. I wish the hostel had explained the city’s no‑smoking rule at check‑in or posted clearer notices; a security guard just handed me instructions while sitting on a chair, and I felt treated like a cat or dog. I missed the friendly, warm smile of the security person from my previous hotel in Manila.

The hotel’s location is excellent and very convenient, and the staff won us over with their courtesy, apologies, and attentiveness even when issues were beyond their control – they deserve a raise. However, the facilities are run‑down and poorly maintained; water leaked from the ceiling, the property had water rationing problems, the room wasn’t properly cleaned, and we found cockroaches, which was very disappointing and unhygienic.

“Just ok”

I had to pay an additional fee even though I arrived around 1 pm and the check‑in time was 2 pm, which I’ve seen other hotels not charge.
