Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Zuidwest

The price was good for Amsterdam hotels and the location was convenient – a 30‑minute walk to the canals. The water pipe in the bath was bad – water overflowed quickly while showering. We asked the reception to clean it, but nothing was done. Rooms were cleaned very rarely; I would expect daily cleaning in a hotel, but there were several days without it. The room was quite small.

The place doesn’t match the pictures on the site. The room is a cramped space, the wardrobe is a 4‑hanger shelf without doors, and the bathroom is tiny, barely enough for a shower. “Just fine for a quick cheap city break.”

The property was suitable for a rest stop during a city trip and was a short walk from the central tram line. The common areas were very basic, dated, and smelled.

There was nothing good to note. The beds were uncomfortable and the facilities dirty; housekeeping didn’t come daily, and when we asked for cleaning a day in advance they only tidied up, leaving the room still filthy. We requested a crib, were told none was available, finally got one the next day, and received no solution the first night – the answer was simply “we don’t have it,” so we had to cram three people into the beds, which was very uncomfortable.
