“Won’t be back to this old and dirty hotel.”
Staff at the desk was nice. Trying to get into the lodge reservation building was a bit of an ordeal with young employees zipping through the parking lots in golf carts with ear pods in and me having to slam on my breaks to avoid hitting them - only for them to not even look or see that I was there. This room was DISGUSTING. We were in town for a high school reunion this weekend, so we were only there one night. Got to our room VERY late like, after midnight, crashed for a mere couple of hours, and then left by 8 am. When we got in, we didn’t even really turn the lights on - just one lamp to get ready for bed. The next morning when we woke up though, WOW. The room is old, makes sense. The hotel has been around for decades. But they are doing the bare minimum to maintain this. Bathroom door is haphazardly patched and painted. Shelves are worn and need patches and paint. A light that is supposed to shine up toward the ceiling is burnt out in a line of them (but it’s like, 3 feet of burnt out light bulbs). Walls are scratched and scuffed up, as are the baseboards corners, everything. The shower has relics of how shampoo and body wash used to be provided through dispensers - but they are missing now or just empty. Something unused should be removed. The furniture is is a mish mash of quality and theme. Like they just found what they could from storage and furnished this room. The lampshades have splatter stains on them (of what, couldn’t tell you). The baseboards are covered in dust and crud. There are cobwebs in the corners. The room, and reservation information was very clear about this being a non smoking room, and yet, as prior guests have smoked on the little patio - evidenced by handfuls of butts left out there - the room has a smoke scent. The screen door for the sliding glass door is also off the track and resting against the glass on the patio. How trashy. There are newer and more centrally located hotels in Hollister now for less than this one-night cost us. We won’t be back to Ridgemark Hotel which I grew up always thinking was the fancy hotel in town. Yikes. A lot has changed here but what a waste of a terrible night of sleep on old hard pillows and mattress and $200
