Everything was fine except early in the morning when a very loud extraction unit started up.

The sea views were lovely, the grand old building was impressive, and the public rooms were good; the junior suite was large with a big bathroom and very good housekeeping (tea, water, etc.). It was quiet, the staff were friendly, the cooked breakfast was very good with excellent coffee, and the bar terrace overlooked the sea. The bar selection was a little limited, parking was okay but I worried it might be a problem if the hotel were full, and there was only one small lift.

The receptionists were friendly, the food was good, the building was beautiful, the location was lovely, parking was free, and the nights were quiet and peaceful; however, they had asked if it was a special occasion and offered an upgrade upsell beforehand, which was not mentioned during our visit. The bedsheets had a couple of sticky lumps despite being freshly laundered, something that could have been noticed when the bed was made. They didn’t check if our dinner was satisfactory, and the breakfast table still had crumbs from the night before; they just flicked them onto the chairs and floor instead of wiping it. The carpets need a professional clean, and the walls in our room are really dusty in the corners. A little more attention to detail would make it a great experience.

The bedroom was large, spotlessly clean, and the beds were comfortable, but the view overlooking the sea was lovely.

The room was spacious and the décor was nice, and the spot was perfect for us. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful, and the breakfast was brilliant.
