Laid-back place with spacious, Africa-shaped pool and friendly staff, close to the beach and in walking distance from the more busy Paje. Staff also arranges tour. We thoroughly enjoyed every day of our 1-week stay, every breakfast and the enjoyable meals for lunch and dinner

We had a great stay in a beautiful setting to unwind. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was tasty. The pool was nice and it’s close to the beach.

The place feels like a tropical haven with a sparkling, spotless pool, charming authentic bungalows, a laid‑back rasta atmosphere, eco‑friendly practices, tasty food and incredibly warm staff. Each morning the breakfast impressed us with fresh fruit and juice harvested from the hotel garden or nearby village and prepared with love. The beach is just a minute’s walk away, and the village of Bwejuu is three minutes on foot where a Tuk‑Tuk can whisk you to the busier Paje. The hotel also arranged pleasant excursions for us. We had a wonderful time and will truly miss it. It isn’t a sleek, upscale resort, but if you want Zanzibar’s soul and vibe, Mustaphas is the spot. The only downside was that the beds were extremely hard.

The place felt like a unique, nature‑rich oasis with several charming, locally built structures surrounded by plants; the rooms were spacious, stylishly furnished and equipped with fans and everything needed, the grounds exuded a relaxed Rastafari vibe, we stayed in the Sunset Apartment with its private terrace, enjoyed a lovely pool, delicious breakfast, occasional visits from the little monkey Lucky perched on our shoulder, and the owner‑manager Mustapha along with his team were friendly and fulfilled every request, the beach was just a few metres away, Paje was within walking distance, evenings were spent around the fire, and we’d gladly return and recommend it without reservation—but the ground‑floor bed in the Sunset Apartment felt a bit short for me at 1.90 m, although it fit diagonally.
