Very charming, great breakfast, and comfortable rooms.

Spacious. The shower was large. Breakfast was fine (except the orange juice, which was abominable). The bathroom door was loose and couldn’t be fully closed; if I closed it from inside, I couldn’t open it from the outside, so it had to be opened from the outside. The shower hose was broken and leaking. Most importantly, there was only a trickle of hot or lukewarm water for washing; there was pressure for cold water but not for hot, so we couldn’t wash our hair and it took a long time to rinse. We arrived thinking we would eat on site after the email that said there was a buffet, but at arrival we learned there was no kitchen that evening; we had to go back to Selfoss in a hurry to eat (it was already 20:30 and everything closed early). The bedding was not great: two narrow single beds instead of a double bed as stated in the reservation.

The front desk was extremely helpful and even managed to give us a free upgrade after we ran into issues with our first room. Breakfast was fine and more than sufficient, and the room felt nicely warm with plenty of coffee and tea supplies. When we first arrived we were taken to room 19, whose exterior door was left open, the light still on, and the beds were dirty and unmade; the whole space was littered with rubbish and felt downright grimy, giving us a creepy vibe. Thankfully the reception staff acted quickly and moved us to a new room with an upgrade. In that second room the second bed was rather hard and the fitted sheet had stains, while the shower was covered in limescale, old and broken, and the tap alternated between scalding hot and ice‑cold water. The reception had previously promised a gluten‑free breakfast for my girlfriend with coeliac disease, but they had placed the gluten‑free bread in the same basket as the regular loaf. After I pointed this out, they did bring us a separate basket.

The location was perfect for a stopover, quiet and surrounded by nature with a lovely setting. The breakfast was very good, fresh and varied, and the dinner buffet was also excellent. The staff were friendly. The room was comfortable, but the lack of finishes—no floor covering in some spots, curtains that fall on their own, and makeshift installations—diminished the value for the price.
