I stayed at this guesthouse for a week, and the location was great—close to the main road but still quiet inside the building. The beach, shops, and cafés were just a few minutes’ walk away. The hosts were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. My room was small and simple, yet the bed was comfortable, and I had a tiny terrace where I could spot monkeys from time to time, which was a nice bonus. There’s a laundry service available. On the downside, the room felt very basic, more suited for someone who just needs a decent place to sleep. I had to buy my own shower gel and shampoo, and the Wi‑Fi in my room was spotty. Also, they only accept cash for payment.
“Overall, a very disappointing stay.”
The location was nice, but I had to kill around 20 mosquitoes in the room. A very strong sewage smell drifted from the bathroom, and there were zero amenities—no toilet paper at all. The bed was also very hard.
“Hier wil je niet zijn.”
The owner wasn’t unreasonable when we told him after the first terrible night that we didn’t want to stay the remaining two nights, although we still had to pay the $66 fee for those nights. The reception felt unfriendly, the rooms weren’t ready and we had to ask for towels that smelled heavily of smoke; one room was swarming with mosquitoes and the owner, looking grumpy, handed us a fly swatter instead of fixing it, so we barely slept and felt completely ripped off, plus the toilets were dirty with hair clinging to the sides and bottom.
“très bien”
The place was quiet and 10 km from Nilaveli, where we could go by tuk‑tuk, and the beach was beautiful.
“Bon emplacement mais à l'étroit dans les chambres.”
The staff were helpful and the beach was close by. However, the rooms were small and not very clean, and the bathroom window lacked a mosquito net.
