The place sits in a quiet, idyllic valley and feels like a relic from a time when grain milling, farming, hunting, and innkeeping thrived, with the former mayor as owner. Today it almost has the charm of a lost place. Owner and master miller Fritz Ammon tells entertaining stories about the past, which is interesting for culture‑history enthusiasts. As bike tourists we were welcomed. The bed and mattress were good, and we also enjoyed freshly brewed beer in the evening and a tasty omelette for breakfast. The property is aging; investments in modernization, maintenance, and overall care haven’t kept pace with the building’s age. We were disappointed to find a “Restaurant closed” sign when we arrived hungry. The website’s portrayal of the inn is misleading. A bike shelter wasn’t offered, only a garden outlet for charging batteries. For a night on a bike tour it was acceptable, given our understanding of reality, but those expecting a fine modern country inn should choose elsewhere.

There was no breakfast. The accommodation was not prepared for our booking, and an older lady took over our stay.

The room had a defined kitchenette and the shower water pressure was very good. The TV and Wi‑Fi were unusable, but the landlord tried to fix everything for the future. The place has a youth hostel vibe and sits nicely in the woods – if that’s what you like, you’ll be well taken care of.

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was a disaster from start to finish. The room was filthy, with trash behind the bed, a moldy shower, and a dirty toilet. The TV didn't work, and the heating system was malfunctioning. To top it off, the service was non-existent.
