The view from the restaurant overlooks the city. The breakfast buffet was good. The back room was dark, had no windows or view, and carried a stale smell.
“Very disappointed.”
The location and the price. Our requested room was not ready upon arrival. We had emailed and called to make sure it was ready but front desk had no information on our requests even when we had confirmation. Housekeeping did not clean room when requested and had to wait outside at 4 pm until it was done on both the days of our stay. The aluminum bottles of water in our room had the seals broken and took them to the front desk to report this. This is a dangerous situation. The water could have been contaminated. Whoever did this only did it so they didn’t have to pay for the bottles. Very disappointed in the service this time. We have been going to this hotel for over 25 years and this was our worst trip. Beds and pillows were very uncomfortable as well
“Beautiful hotel with a lot of charm, but difficult to navigate all the stairs and different levels.”
Location: A+ (We love the Old Town area) Comfort: A+ (Beds were very comfy) Hotel: A- Love the personality and ambiance of the hotel. I was not expecting a class act like this from a Best Western. I was expecting something dry and boring, but this was beautiful and very picturesque. Breakfast: A+ The breakfast spread was AMAZING!! Soooo good!!. Getting around the hotel: Although it was a beautiful hotel and very large property, we found that getting around the property itself was very difficult, as we are in our 60s and my husband has Parkinson's. We asked for a handicap room and were given one as far as possible away from the lobby, the pool, and the area of Old Town where all the restaurants were. We either had to climb up TWO HUGE HILLS to get to our room, OR find our way through the very confusing property and climb up hundreds of stairs, which was exhausting. There was not enough signage to help disabled people get around the property. The elevators were hidden and there were not enough of them to get from one end to the other without climbing stairs, which was very difficult and exhausting. IF we were to stay here again, we would ask for a room by the lobby. Everywhere else was too difficult to get to. Also, during our stay, I went to turn on the shower, and the faucet and water shot straight out of the wall. Maintenance did come quickly, but it was too difficult of a fix for them to do in a few hours, so they had us move to a different rooms. Our new room was a bit of an upgrade in that it was bigger, but it was still as far away as one could get from the lobby. IF we were younger and could get around better, this would be a beautiful hotel. I would stay here again; however, I would ask for a room by the lobby
“It was great, great staff. I got more than the experience I was expecting”
I loved everything about the property, the view the area how clean it was, and I love the room. The customer service was great definitely would choose his hotel every time I come to San Diego. Me and my husband haven't been out for a very long time due to a hardship and this, was perfect. The customer service was great. The staff were awesome different ladies were so nice. The restaurant was closed, but we'll try next time.
“Great location, good breakfast, overall very nice property, would stay there again”
The included breakfast buffet was surprisingly good! Good variety/quality of food which was constantly refilled by the staff. The room was super quiet as it was on the opposite side from the freeway, which totally eliminated all the traffic noise. The property is on the side of a hill and there were multiple elevators needed to reach our room, however, just by driving and parking on the street around the corner we were able to park just about 50 feet from our room, worked out great!. A little better signage could be helpful if taking elevators to and from your room(600 building) and the lobby, very easy to go in the wrong direction, and having to back track to find correct path
