“NOT SAFE for young children, ongoing construction, expensive and overcrowded pools”
The lifeguards were great with the kids 👍🏻, yet this place is a water park for local Sri Lankan kids, so during the day a bus full of teenagers with boom boxes plays loud music and the pools get very busy. The hotel is unfinished, so you’re staying in the middle of a construction site with scaffolding, electrical cables and dirt everywhere. There’s no restaurant, just the water‑park canteen that does a buffet at lunch time. You can’t order food and drink the way you would at a normal hotel and all the staff leave when the water park closes. The slides/pool activities are fun but quite frankly dangerous; my husband fell, cut his leg open and lost a toenail. One day we came back and found a generator cable plugged into the wall of our accommodation and the wire ran right across our front door. My husband unplugged it only to find I was immediately plugged back in. We raised it with management that it was dangerous for our children and we asked to leave after staying for only 1 of the 4 nights we had paid for. Management refused to refund us for the 3 nights we were not going to use despite the agent saying the site was not safe for the children. There was also another family there at the same time as us with even younger children who were also asking to leave because of safety. After a long battle we were refunded for 1 night and they refused to refund us more despite getting involved. We ended up having to leave in a hurry with nowhere to stay with 3 young children and find short‑price accommodation in Galle. It was dealt with really poorly by the hotel. We had no warning about the ongoing construction or that we would have booked it. The room itself was nice—room 74 had a large fridge‑freezer and a sink for food preparation outside, but there were no cooking facilities or utensils so we could not even prepare our own food.
