The staff were very helpful, the cooked breakfast was fresh, and you can leave boots or damp clothes in the boiler room to dry.

I booked a room for a one‑night stay as part of a hiking holiday; we arrived with soaking boots and they were taken straight off to the boiler room to dry. The place is a local pub with rooms above—quirky but homely and friendly. The staff were very welcoming and gave good dining recommendations.
Great value for money and the location is ideal for hill walks that aren't as crowded as Edale.

It was the perfect base for a tough walk up to Kinderlow and other peaks around Edale and Castleton; we left our luggage here while hiking for two days. The spot is great, offers good value, and the host was very accommodating.
