The spot was close to where we were visiting family in Glendale and sat on a quiet street. We never got any instructions on how to enter the house; although we were approved for an early arrival, no details were sent about the property’s layout. We approached the front door, but no one answered. The phone number listed was “no longer in service.” We almost abandoned the trip and risked losing our pre‑paid booking until a generic “welcome” sign near the driveway caught our eye. The sign wasn’t personalized, yet it led me to the ADU, which was unlocked. Still, there was no note or guidance, and I had to search hard to locate the keys and lock the door myself. This lack of communication left me feeling insecure about staying there. In the end, the stay was okay, but we constantly had to hunt for amenities like heating. I’m accustomed to the clear communication from AirBnB and was shocked by how little we received from the property manager.
