The Prince Double Room looks out over Colmberg town centre and the Franconian countryside. It provides one large double bed and a sofa bed, accommodating two guests, and a crib can be added on request.

The building has charm, is evocative and a bit mysterious—especially at night. The room was spacious and comfortable. Parking is on the rear side of the castle, and from there you can go straight into the hotel and lift your luggage in the elevator once you have the room key. Breakfast was good and varied, and there’s a beverage machine to grab something when the bar is closed. The restaurant was shut for holidays during our stay.
“Ein wunderbarer Aufenthalt auf Burg Colmberg!”
Service was excellent—from reception to breakfast, everyone was friendly, attentive, and warm. The view from the castle is simply stunning, especially in the mornings and evenings. The interior décor is lovingly historic yet cozy—instantly comfortable. The food was very good, fresh, regional, and perfect for a special evening. One night is absolutely ideal: especially quiet, charming, and highly recommended.

A hotel inside a castle, old walls with modern hotel facilities—this really captures the place. There’s nothing to complain about in the accommodation; the bathroom is modern both in the room and in the restaurant. Guests park their cars or motorcycles in the castle’s first defensive ring. The entrance to the castle feels quite reverential. The only issue was that it was very hot during my visit (heatwave). The room isn’t air‑conditioned, and the supplied fan did its best to provide some airflow.
“Mal was Anderes!”
The castle was beautifully renovated; it felt like being transported to another era. Truly extraordinary!
The setting is wonderful and the dinner was excellent.
