The location was fantastic! Great view and a good base for activities. The breakfast was delicious and well taken care of. Paola is a good hostess, friendly and helpful. Her cafeteria is a nice place to eat. Everything she prepares herself! What I missed was a nice sofa to sit on and read a book. And I missed a place to sit outside. A balcony or terrace.

It was quirky and homely. The hosts were exceptional. The owners also run a bar/restaurant and the food is typically traditional. We ate there for all three nights of our stay. Met some lovely people. Also a local band played the first night we were there. Paola is an amazing chef and Johnny is very entertaining. Gisela was also awesome, great at English and explaining the menu. Nothing.

The view from the kitchen and single bedroom was pretty nice, but the place got very hot despite all the fans. There were a lot of stairs, yet the host helped with luggage. The bed on the ground floor was just a mattress on a plank with a spring underneath—sleep was uncomfortable. The shower stall was so tight you barely could turn around. Breakfast was mediocre: stale bread, homemade dry pastries, jam, yogurt with a few blackberries. Cheese and meat were only on the first day; the second day had none. It was mentioned that the garden wouldn’t be available after breakfast, and it stayed that way despite the heat. Carate Urio has little to offer, and the pier is at least a 20‑minute walk away.
