The place was comfortable and tidy, but there were not many shops nearby.

The unit bath was very clean. My room was non‑smoking, but there was a smoking area on the same floor and the elevator smelled of tobacco when I got off.

Breakfast had a wide variety of Japanese dishes that were all delicious, and I liked being able to choose from many drink options. The staff were clean and had lovely smiles. However, something in the room made a clacking sound that came and went, and I was disappointed that I couldn’t see Okayama Castle from my room even though I could see it from the 9th‑floor restaurant.

Because the hotel is old, the rooms were larger than modern ones and the bathroom had been upgraded, which was a nice bonus. Overall it was quiet and a few staff spoke English. When I turned on the AC, the air smelled of tobacco, especially at night. The air purifier didn’t work and they didn’t refill the freshener. I told the front desk, and they seemed genuinely sorry, but the damage was already done, so I checked out at the first opportunity.
