“Worth a beautiful room alone.”
The room looked great and met expectations, and the little fridge was a nice touch. I told the staff I’d be arriving between 4‑5 pm, but when I got there at 4:12 pm there was no one around. I waited, shouted, checked the kitchen, shouted again—nothing. Eventually I called the number they gave me and was told the owner was in town but would call his wife. A few minutes later she walked out with no concern. After settling in I asked for a cold drink because the bar was advertised, but there were only two beer options. At 9 pm the husband appeared at my door demanding my passport, which felt absurd after I’d been here five hours. I’d been hiking and wanted breakfast at 7:30 am; he laughed and refused. Everywhere else I’d stayed on the trail had been very accommodating. I told them I’d need to leave by 7 am to find breakfast in town, and they agreed. By 7:15 am there was still no one to finalize my stay, and the room had no hot water for tea. Another guest who came looking was also disappointed by the lack of care. I had to call again. The room itself is fabulous, but the customer service is far from “service” in any sense.
