Breakfast was excellent and the lakeside location is fantastic; the host is very friendly and the room and bathroom are tastefully appointed.

The houseboat has everything you need, a single entrance, and the owners live next door; the spacious room has a comfortable bed, the bathroom is modern with a shower, and it’s in Amsterdam North – the city center is a 20‑minute walk and then a ferry across, making it easy to reach.

From my bed window I could see the canal, a truly beautiful view. The room had everything you could need, and Manon was a kind, helpful host. Breakfast was thoughtfully arranged, even offering quark, fresh fruit, and orange juice—nothing was missing. Parking, however, remains a general issue; you pay €10 per day by card for street parking, and cars with cameras regularly drive through the streets, matching license plates with parking meters. Only residents get an exemption, which is typical across Amsterdam.

It was great to sleep in a “boat‑house” and enjoy an excellent breakfast served right outside the room door. The pigeons that walked and cooed on the roof of the room, and the heat inside after a sunny day were the only downsides.
