“Traumlogde inmitten der Wildnis”
The location is gorgeous, far from any civilization in a private game reserve. Getting there was spectacular, passing several gates and already feeling like a game drive on arrival, even though it was a few kilometres away. Then the wow moment: the terrace view of the river and its wildlife. Each bungalow sits a great distance apart right on the riverbank. Near the main building is a nicely laid out pool with a spa area. Breakfast and dinner were very good quality and set in an amazing location. The price of the stay included game drives, which were beautiful because private resorts usually show more animals than places like Kruger. The rangers also knew exactly where to look. Because of the very bad weather, the next two game drives were cancelled, and we didn’t get a refund. That’s not criticism, just info. Weather is beyond control, so on such a day we spent the whole day in the room or lounge, because there are no alternatives. Overall a wonderful stay at the lodge despite the extreme bad weather. I would book again. On the downside, there aren’t enough umbrellas. If it keeps raining and you walk from the bungalow to dinner and get drenched, it’s not nice. This should be improved, and each bungalow should have two umbrellas, perhaps labeled with the bungalow number. The lodge is already in the upper price segment. It’s not a negative, just informative: the typical safari vehicles have no roofs, so you get wet when it rains. There are raincoats, but they don’t help in extreme rain. Unlike Kruger, where the Jeeps are open but have roofs.
