Located in the city center, perfect for walking around, and housed in a historic building for a unique experience. One toilet on the first floor was the only one for about 30 guests, and the seat was broken, requiring us to adjust the position before use.

The location inside the fortress was incredible. The view from the window was fantastic – a mosque, walls, and mountains! The kitchen was comfortable and available to everyone. The room décor was nice (we had a three‑person room). The toilet quality and the odor there need improvement, and the Wi‑Fi was very weak.

The place feels like a crêpe stone inside an old fortress, giving the vibe of stepping back into ancient times, with the Sogd Museum tucked in one corner of the fortress. I felt like an ancient person, and the staff were friendly. I couldn’t find a place to exchange money and was frustrated until a staff member pointed me to one. They also arranged a taxi to the border; normally you’d have to go to a shared taxi stop, switch there, and then change again in another town (a few somoni plus 50 somoni), but they offered a direct ride for 60 somoni. The hostel is on the left edge of the photo.

The spot is great, the room is roomy and comfy, and the security feels like a fortress 😄, but the toilet frame was ripped off its hinges.
