“Nice views not walking distance to downtown”

The natural surroundings, pool, and plants were lovely; the bell boys were especially helpful and the city views were beautiful. The hotel sits on a hill, making it hard to reach—my parents couldn’t walk up the steep slope from the main road, so we had to rely on taxis or a car. The shuttle didn’t show up at the downtown pickup spot, so we ended up taking taxis. The pool was slippery and I slipped; be careful! The bathroom smells like drainage in the mornings.

“Regular”

The green area is nice. The restaurant chairs and tables are extremely uncomfortable. The receptionists are very rude, with no sense of common courtesy. And if you arrive after 8‑9 pm, they’ll send you to park almost at the entrance.

I arrived about 1.30 hours early and was not given a room; I couldn’t even go into the restaurant. I told them I needed a lower floor because there was no elevator and I was traveling with an elderly adult, but they had no rooms available and said they would give my reservation to someone else. I was in the common area by the bar and was told I couldn’t be there because the hotel doesn’t have common areas; the common area was my room if I wanted to open my drink and food that I had brought, which would have cost me 250 pesos if I didn’t leave. They told me to leave my room because we couldn’t sit with my family in that space, even though the bar is outside and it’s a bad room. They said the common areas are the guests’ rooms, not the usual traveler spaces, because you paid for that place and you have the right to use the facilities. The Fortín hotel is a bit more modern and has a better view; if you want a view, the Alado hotel has a better view even of the restaurant. I stayed in both and prefer the Fortín for the view and slightly better service.

The reception was bad, the views weren't what was promised, the standard rooms had old carpet and bathrooms, the pool was cold, and the pool furniture was old. The staff told me I had to pay 250 pesos to unblock a food item we brought into the outside bar area, which is not a common practice; there was no place to sit for a moment, and they told me to leave. The hotel’s view is terrible and they don’t deliver what they advertise.
