If you’re lucky enough to visit the Japanese Alps near Takayama, the Minori family’s historic home is a rare find. In my travels across rural Japan, I’ve seen many preserved traditional family houses, but until I stayed here, I never imagined it was possible to experience authentic sleeping and dining in such a thoughtfully curated space amid quiet farmland and river scenery. It’s clean, comfortable, and offers the necessary modern conveniences. The host is caring and attentive.
