When I arrived, the place was very clean, but the next afternoon the bed was still dirty and hadn’t been cleaned. I told reception, and they apologized, saying the cleaning staff only worked in the morning and they couldn’t do anything else except offer me gels or toilet paper if I needed it.

Since it’s a hostel, I didn’t expect hotel‑level service. The owner couple shared stories of their travels to Japan, and there were photos of trips around the world on the reception table. They gave me maps for shopping, old sites, and I was able to buy from a wine shop, an olive shop, a honey shop, and a confectionery. The wine shop sold by the barrel, which was surprising. The owner was like an old‑time Japanese sake shopkeeper. I was inconvenienced because there was no nearby breakfast restaurant.
