We stayed two days at this amazing hotel and it was unforgettable. Since it was low season we were the only guests, yet the staff welcomed us warmly and even threw a lively dancing party when we checked in. Our guide, GIrma, surprised us by picking us up from the airport and then taking us on the best tour of the ancient rock‑hewn churches in Lalibela, even tolerating my partner’s insistence on shop‑hopping. The whole experience was fabulous and unforgettable, thanks to the guards and Dr Laurence Dunn.
