“disappointed”
The town was within walking distance, but the building was cold and we had to crank our own heater on, the breakfast lacked a manual, the shower was moldy, the reception tried to charge us again for the booking, the EFTPOS machine didn’t print, staff were scarce at the front desk, kids yelled in the staff area, construction outside blocked the walkway around the building, the bins and ongoing work were visible, the pool and bird cages needed an upgrade, it looked like a jungle, and it was too pricey for one night.
“Great location, accept that there may be a lack of modern facilities and you will have a great time. Definitely come bac”
The location, history, garden, staff, old‑world charm and décor are all great. The braised beef cheeks were a perfect 10/10 – the best we’ve ever had. It’s no wonder that two seasons of “Traitors Australia” were filmed here. The room lacks a small fridge, there’s no elevator because of the building’s age, and the Wi‑Fi is terrible at 5/1 Mbps. I had to use my smartphone as a hotspot. The 5G reception is good at 280/20 Mbps.
A friendly James at reception helped us both over the phone and in person, and the hotel offered plenty of cozy spots for our group to hang out. The beds were comfortable and the room stayed warm during a very cold weekend, and we especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast. The only downside was that the stairs were difficult because of an injury.
The property was interesting and unique, giving it character, but the rooms weren’t fully soundproof because it’s an old building.
“Convenient location for us for the wedding venue and reception.”
For breakfast, we could only sit in a cold area with no heating :-( The water heater on level 3 wasn’t refilled even though one of the staff said that she would.
