I returned to this hotel after seven years and the view from my room was simply stunning. They provided coconut milk for breakfast because I have lactose intolerance, but otherwise the breakfast was a typical Sri Lankan spread. Special thanks for the late checkout almost until the evening and the unlimited bottled water. Taking the employee's personal phone made arranging a tuk‑tuk easy. At night the power was cut off, and since there is no air conditioning in the rooms, sleeping with the doors closed was hard in the heat, so I had to open the door to the balcony, but I was afraid of mosquito bites because they are present. On arrival I was not given Wi‑Fi, and later I only found a QR code on the mirror the next morning. I never received a reply to my messages and their phone was not working. The main terrace used to be much more spacious, and you could get close to the railings; now it’s filled with pots of flowers.

The view was breathtaking, but the room was dusty.

The hotel sits on a small hill above the town’s main bustle, giving great views, though you need to plan a bit to get in and out of town. Still, it’s totally worth it for the sunrise over the Ella Gap.
