The host was very welcoming, kind, and friendly; the hostel was excellent, the rooms were in good condition with great renovations, cheaper rooms were not the same but still good. Everything was very enjoyable.

A taxi from the airport stopped at a construction site late at night, and I felt unsafe and unsure if it was my hostel; there was no internet and only groups of men who seemed to live there permanently. The driver called, and Sneza arrived, but she speaks no English and relies on Google Translate, which makes it hard to understand her. It was 10 pm and I never got a proper tour, so I just went to sleep. In the morning I noticed the room door was always open and people could walk in to use the toilet, even though there’s a separate one next door. There are no lockers to keep things safe. Sneza wasn’t around to ask about taxis, so I called Montego and ordered one, but he took ages because he didn’t know where I was. The room was clean and the bed comfy, but I didn’t feel comfortable with the men hanging around all the time and not working. I walked around and found the kitchen – it wasn’t very appealing and I couldn’t use it because residents were using it and I didn’t feel comfortable. The kettle was in the corridor with dirty cups. I couldn’t rely on Montego to book a taxi for an early‑morning bus trip, and although Sneza tried to help, it seems there are no taxi firms you can use to book early drives unless it’s to the airport. I didn’t want to risk missing my bus, so I left early and walked to the main road along an industrial estate that has no signage and wouldn’t have felt safe at night. If you can get your bearings, have internet, speak the language, and are comfortable in that environment, then for the price this is for you – but as a single female traveller who had no internet for directions in a country where many taxi drivers don’t know English or how to use a sat nav, I would choose somewhere in the centre.

Very clean and good stay. And a very nice garden.

Enough if you’re looking for a shower and a bed to spend the night. You need a car or to arrive by taxi. Bring your own water and food, there’s nothing around.
