“Originell, herzlich, außergewöhnlich!”
An extraordinary stay – we were thrilled. Host Cândida took care of us with great warmth! The rooms were spacious and super clean. There’s a large common area, terrace, kitchen, decent internet (Starlink), always enough drinks in the fridge and fruit. Breakfast is amazing and varied with many homemade items. The big shared breakfast table encourages lively conversations among guests. And if you don’t speak German or English, Cândida happily translates; she speaks German, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and a bit of Creole. She also offers transport with her pickup—whether from the airport or to the next Alugueres station. The house is a bit isolated. If you’re good on foot, you can reach the sights around Pedra de Lume and the Salinas with a short hike, as well as Espargos. From Espargos you can easily get to the south (Murdeira, Santa Maria) or north (Palmeira, Buracona…) by Alugueres. A small tip: if you arrive by domestic flight, the flight usually doesn’t follow the schedule and you may need a taxi. It helps to have the address ready in Google Maps or similar for the driver, because the house is off the main road (and 10 € / 110 Escudos should be fine).
