“A não repetir”
It was a nasty experience that I won’t repeat. The place is cozy and pleasant, but… it was over here. Right at the entrance of Casa Samocas, we encountered a stinky insect infestation. A photo is attached. We spent more than an hour and a half exterminating the crawling insects that were everywhere. In the end, we realized we had more than two dozen insects to collect. While doing this, we heard the ceiling, made of pine studs and particleboard, creak and groan. Since it was late afternoon, we thought it was due to expansion from the heat, as the outer roof is metal, and we didn’t pay much attention. After exploring the area and returning to the house, we found more crawlers like those we thought we’d exterminated entirely. But no… it was another hunt. Too bad I didn’t take a photo of the collection we gathered. After this playful ordeal, we took a shower and found only one pair of washcloths and two bath towels. We are three people: two adults and an 11‑year‑old child. A small detail, given that we paid extra precisely for having a child. The ceiling still made its symphony of creaks and groans. After dinner, and taking advantage of the lack of big entertainment options, we decided to walk around the premises again. It was a pleasant night, and we wanted to enjoy the contrast between the lights and shadows of the space, as shown in the promotional photos. What we found was darkness and more darkness. We were lucky because we were right next to the main entrance and didn’t have to walk far in the dark. Others who were further inside had to light the way with their phone flashlights.
