When my rental car blew a tire at night, the staff took the driver from the puncture spot to the hotel, handling the crisis quickly. The beautiful beach in front of the hotel is underused; it seems the neighboring property is hesitant, but the manager should address this to add value. It’s a waste.

Our room was huge and airy with a balcony overlooking the sea, and every room offered that same ocean view; towel service and water were unlimited throughout the day, the 90‑minute spa massage was wonderful, and the staff were generally very courteous, especially Suzuki at the pool and the Italian‑speaking lady whose name escapes us. We also enjoyed a glass of Laurent‑Perrier champagne served in a plastic flute at sunset. However, the hotel feels more like a four‑star property than a true five‑star one – the overall upkeep is lacking and the lobby feels tiny compared to the building’s size. We were especially disappointed by a boat‑snorkeling trip we had booked via the hotel: after confirming the last available date by email and again at check‑in, we were told the following day that the excursion was fully booked and offered a beach snorkel instead, which we declined because it’s something we could do on our own for free. The breakfast service also needs improvement; each morning we waited several minutes in the lobby for a table even though seats were free, simply because the tables hadn’t been cleared yet – something we’d never experienced even in lower‑rated hotels. There’s no bar open during the day, and one night at 21:30 we wanted just a dessert but the restaurant was already closed with no alternative. The turn‑down service seemed unusually early at around 17:30; while we understand Japanese timing can differ, a five‑star hotel should offer a more appropriate evening service. Lastly, apart from a single instance, the curtains were never drawn or lowered.

The breakfast quality was definitely high, and the free champagne in the evening was delicious.
