The Hohes Haus hotel, situated in Greetsiel's charming East Frisian fishing village, offers cosy accommodation within a 1696 historic building. It’s a lovely old house right on the Siel with wonderful original charm, nicely furnished rooms, and modern bathrooms. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and the breakfast is extensive and tasty. I’ve stayed here several times and will gladly return. The only downside was that from the window of my single room I could see the construction site of the adjoining building.

The breakfast buffet staff were always friendly and helpful. The central location of the hotel is great—step out the door and you’re in the middle of everything! The building is old, so it’s not wheelchair‑friendly or barrier‑free. There is no parking for loading or unloading luggage. The room was blandly decorated, with almost no pictures on the walls, dim lighting in the room, and harsh light on the nightstand. The sofa had a scratched cover, which was very uncomfortable. It’s a shame, but the hotel relies only on its central location, and the value for money unfortunately doesn’t match.

I was impressed by how friendly and historic the hotel felt, but I learned that the stairs are steep; the staff offered help, which I appreciated 😀
