We spent January 2026 at JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island resort with our family. Even though we initially chose a different hotel, we didn’t regret picking JW Marriott for our vacation. Highlights: a wonderful team—friendly, attentive, and perceptive staff from the garden crew to the general manager Sri Kant Devarapalli. Delicious food—breakfasts varied, dinners beyond words. We travel a lot and usually stay at good hotels, but even we, the demanding guests, were impressed. The rooms: the villas are very beautiful and thoughtfully designed. Since the hotel opened only recently, they look stylish and fresh. As far as I know, the project’s architect is Junoit Byuklymez, known for the Joali hotel. One point that could be a plus for some (or a minus for others) is the proximity to Malé airport and the ability to reach the hotel by speedboat instead of a seaplane. Minor downsides: the hotel is new, opened in 2025, and the island hasn’t yet sprouted lush vegetation; lovers of dense greenery might find it a bit bare. Because of the closeness to the airport, you can hear aircraft engines. The hotel doesn’t have its own reef, but offers trips to manta rays and dolphins. Despite these quirks, the hotel left us with the most pleasant impressions, and we’ll gladly return.
