Pensiunea Black Mountain

“We loved it so much the 1st time, we returned 3 years later!”

This was our second visit to Pensiunia Black Mountain. The first stay was in 2023, when we enjoyed it so much—so much that we added an extra day to our trip. Knowing we’d be heading that way, I was thrilled to book again. The house is gorgeous, immaculate, and the rooms are spacious; we stayed in the same room as three years ago. The host communicates well and speaks English. For an extra fee, they provide on‑site dinner or breakfast cooked by a lovely lady who is a fantastic cook. If you plan to have a meal, let the host know ahead of time so they can source the ingredients you want. The location is superb: a lake (Lacul Bodi) is within walking distance, with a lovely trail around its perimeter that even goes into the woods. My husband even hiked to the top of the hill area past the telescaun leading to Suior Resort—an amazing area. The Pensiunea also has a hot tub, which we didn’t use.

The forest location is great, and the hotel is actually much bigger and more interesting than the photos show, spanning three floors. There’s an inner courtyard that opens onto a lake and a bathing tub. The rooms lack refrigerators and kettles, and there was nowhere to boil water for tea.

I think the price matches what the place offers – fair value. Everything else was fine, nothing that bothered me.

“Vacanta de vis in Maramures”

The spot is amazing, close to Suior and Cavnic beaches, half an hour from Baia Mare, a fairy‑tale view, great conditions, welcoming hosts, good food, we felt right at home! I highly recommend it.
