I really liked the central location, the shower in the room I stayed in was hot, the staff were attentive and polite, and the breakfast was wonderful—no complaints there. However, the lodge feels stuck in the 1990s in a negative way, and the bathrooms need renovation. The room is dark, and to prevent possible leaks a floor was installed up to halfway up the wall behind the bed, which makes the room feel cold in this chilly area. The blankets left for guests are old and in poor condition, and nothing is offered to replace them. The room lighting is poor, the sheets were yellowed and stained, and it seemed like only a broom was used before the next guest. The room with a fireplace had very little wood, which ran out in about half an hour, and we later learned that extra wood would cost extra even though we had already paid for the fireplace. The fireplace itself isn’t properly vented, leaving a smoky smell in the room and on clothes. There are two pools, but they’re unusable—not just because of winter but because they’re dirty; the kiddie pool is probably broken, yet the photos used for promotion don’t mention this. Another issue was having to leave my key at reception when I checked out, which felt uncomfortable because each guest has personal items in the room; it would be reasonable to charge a fee if a key is lost, as that’s the guest’s responsibility. I stayed in Monte Verde two months earlier at a simple lodge where the owner’s attention to blankets, cleanliness, and overall care was evident, a level of care I didn’t see at the Grilo lodge. It’s a place with potential, but it urgently needs renovation, more affection, and care.

Pousada simples. Bem localizada e bom café da manhã. Prédio no modelo puxadinhos improvisados e aproveitamento de materiais e móveis usados, velhos. Apartamentos sem ventilação e barulho constantes dos apartamentos e passagem do corredor, latidos de animais e conversas. Apartamento bem pequeno. Sem aquecimento em noite de 1 grau
The hotel offers excellent value, and aside from the weather, everything else was sensational.
