The location is perfect—quiet but close to everything. Restaurants down the street, a shop, and a bus stop are just around the corner on the main road. The food is amazing, the beds are comfortable, and the service is absolutely 5‑star. Don’t miss the cooking class; it’s well worth it! This place must be Sigiriya’s best‑kept secret.

The hostel is perfect for backpackers; the family hosts are warm and attentive, taking me on fantastic local tours and whipping up tasty meals. Their kids are adorable, too. The spot is ideal—just a stone’s throw from Lion Rock, yet tucked off the main road, so it stays quiet. I enjoyed the peaceful setting, the abundance of wildlife, and the lovely garden where I could stroll or relax in a hammock. The double beds were comfortable, and although there’s no AC, the two fans kept me cool. The shower delivered hot water with great pressure, and there’s a small cupboard with a lockable key for personal items. The only downside was the lack of soap in the bathroom.

The breakfast was delicious, and the property is spacious because it’s a large estate with plenty of room. Each room has a mosquito net and a fan. The wardrobe and bathrooms were a bit dirty, but given the size, it’s hard to keep everything spotless.

Nimeshika and her husband are very friendly and welcoming, always looking out for us and explaining how to care for the local elephants, plus giving transport tips beyond the bus. The four‑bed dormitory had the basics, and the large bathroom featured a hot shower with good pressure. Breakfast included amazing coconut roti and coconut pancakes, and we also dined at the on‑site restaurant where the food was tasty. Because the lodge sits deep in the forest, we had to be careful with lights at night, but Nimeshika was understanding and helpful again.

The dormitory/guesthouse we stayed in was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the outdoor bathrooms were clean. A large garden with hammocks offered a place to unwind, and the owners provided a kitchen and tables for meals. The family was extremely hospitable, with two beautiful children. The owner showed me a stunning spot to watch the sunset and spot elephants.
