“A true hidden gem for anyone looking to experience the authentic side of Egypt.”
From the instant I stepped into the Historical Mayor's House, I sensed something truly special; this isn't just a place to sleep, it's a beautifully restored traditional mud‑brick house that once belonged to Farafra's former mayor, now lovingly maintained by his grandson Abdullah who welcomes guests with exceptional warmth. Abdullah isn't merely a guide—his deep knowledge of Farafra, its history and the White Desert turns every excursion into an unforgettable adventure, and with his family he creates a setting where you feel like a friend rather than a visitor. Farafra itself is far more than a gateway to the White Desert; away from mass tourism I found breathtaking landscapes, endless silence and unforgettable desert nights. Sitting around the campfire, savoring delicious home‑cooked Bedouin food and falling asleep beneath an incredible star‑filled sky are memories I will always treasure. The oasis is also worth exploring, with the Badr Museum, the White Desert Museum, the historic Qasr fortress, the traditional Bedouin house, beautiful oasis gardens and relaxing natural hot springs. Meeting Rami Badr and bathing in the hot springs under the moonlight were unforgettable highlights. If you want authentic Egypt instead of a tourist attraction, this is a true hidden gem. I left with wonderful memories and already know I will return. Nothing was lacking; everything exceeded my expectations 🇪🇬🤍
