The hotel was very clean, the facilities brand‑new, and you step out onto the sea; the spot is great, and driving to the whale‑watching point takes about five minutes. The front desk was very welcoming, but the rooms feel a bit cramped and parking spots are limited.

The room was nice, the bed comfortable, and it had all the amenities we needed. However, we booked this place for its off‑street parking because we were in Kaikoura for a classic car show, and we were very disappointed to find that parking wasn’t guaranteed, even for the couple staying with us. We had to park on the street opposite, and in the morning we had to wash both cars because of sticky residue from parking under a tree. The accommodation itself was lovely, but don’t stay here if you need a guaranteed car park.

Really comfortable accommodation, warm and clean. Welcoming staff, restaurant was great. Beautiful food and friendly staff. Some guests don’t seem to respect the no-smoking policy which may need more attention
