“Very, very disappointing!”
I booked one of the cheaper rooms but it turned out there are actually two parts of the hotel, the old and the new. The old rooms face a very busy road and I barely slept. The new rooms use electronic entry, while the old ones use keys. There is a very modern lift that serves all rooms, which shows that while some parts have been upgraded, others have been neglected. I stayed two nights and filled out online forms to make my arrival easier. When I arrived I had no idea that reception is on the first floor. If the form is to make things easier for the hotel, it should also make things easier for the guest. I had to ask a staff member if I was in the right building. I was pointed toward a door that led into a bar area. Again I had to ask and moved to another room… finally someone who knew some English (I’m as much to blame as I can’t speak Slovenian) came. However, there are always means of communicating. I’m on a six‑week motorcycle trip and, as I was staying for two nights, I hoped to get some laundry done. This is a service advertised in the hotel’s facilities. I asked four times how I would go about it. I was assured it was possible, just not informed how! The bed wasn’t made, in fact neither of them as it was a twin room. By that I mean the duvet was not inside its cover. The layout of the room was weird, twin beds end to end against a wall, separated by a wardrobe… Other things… Plug sockets hanging out of the wall. Hair dryer held together with black insulation tape. Lid broken off the bin. Shower tray not very clean. One of the bedside lights, the bulb didn’t work. Shower head didn’t fit in holder. Road noise as I said and only a metal shutter and a flimsy net curtain. No heavy curtains which would potentially dampen sound. I came down for breakfast at 8.45 to find everything had been cleared away. A very nice lady brought me some stuff but all in all this was not the stay I needed. Totally disappointing. I am including some photos.
