“Disappointing”
The spot is ideal, but construction ruins the vibe. I’d love to see the trees grow and the restaurant open before it’s a real gem. The room itself is gorgeous, though the door faces a busy road and you can see people passing by. I’m a huge fan of Oudewerfskloof Olives, so we were thrilled to finish our two‑week holiday by hitting the farm, tasting, and buying loads of olives that aren’t sold commercially anymore. The website mentioned the restaurant was closed for renovations, but it didn’t explain the full situation. When we got there, we learned the tastings were canceled entirely because of the renovations. The farm shop was supposed to be open from 8 to 4, but after three attempts it was still shut; we had to call the owner and arrange for it to open, only to find they had barely any stock. Builders were on site from 7 am, walking past our room with wheelbarrows and making a lot of noise, as most construction sites do. The fridge‑freezer was frozen solid, making it hard to close the door. Renting out these units while construction is happening is unfair to guests, especially at the rates they charge.
